Fleece Blanket Instructions

Patients appreciate soft, warm blankets that are either crocheted, quilted, knitted, fleece-tied, or store-bought. Preferred size: 40″ x 50.”

1. Select fleece material for a two-sided blanket. When selecting the material, choose one that is patterned and one that is a solid, coordinating color. Purchase 1 and 1/4 yards of each fabric (measures 40″ x 50″).

2. Spread both pieces out on a flat surface, one on top of the other, with the softer, more brightly-colored sides facing outward. Trim the edges, if needed, to meet the size requirements. Be sure to remove selvage edges.

3. At each corner, cut out a 4″ x 4″ square. Make sure to cut both pieces of fleece at the same time so they match. Begin cutting fringe-strips along each side of the blanket, starting at the corners. Fringe-strips should be 2/3″ to 1″ wide, and 4″ long.

4. Once all the fringe-strips are cut, tie them together, bottom layer to top layer. The first knot should be slightly loose. The second knot should be more secure.

5. When finished tying, trim the fringe-strips so that they are neat and even.
