A Letter From Phil Zielke

Our Volunteer Coordinator, Kelly, wrote about this heartfelt moment she had experienced while leading a volunteer group session one evening in the Hope Center:
A couple of weeks ago, a father who had recently been going through a rough time, made his way into the Hope Center with his four children. They were invited by a regular volunteer and had never been to the Hope Center before. They spent the evening coloring Cards of Hope and packing Care Packages to bring hope to those affected by cancer. As they left, they had smiles on their faces and the father nodded towards his children and then shared with me, “they really needed this.” It was such a beautiful reminder that God always puts us where we need to be and always at just the right moment.
The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. –Isaiah 58:11

Every so often patients who have received support from Phil’s Friends write back to let us know just how much it meant to them. Phil’s Friends’ unique programs all touch people in significant ways. Often times, our staff is so encouraged by the responses we get from our patients that we want to share them with the world. So, we’ve shared some of those responses here. It’s truly an encouraging reminder of the significance of each Care Package. Hopefully you will be as encouraged as we have been.
